Short version: we collect your email address only when you submit a form. This site does not accept payment. We do not sell your information, and you can ask us to delete it.
The current forms do not ask for your name, address, phone number, or payment-card details. No payment-card details are handled by this site.
Netlify and Amazon are independent companies with their own privacy policies. They may store data outside Canada, principally in the United States and the European Union. Your information may therefore be subject to the laws of those countries.
Under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation we only send commercial email with your express consent. The consent box is required and never pre-ticked. The wording beside the box defines what you asked to receive.
The Field Card route is limited to exactly two emails: one confirmation and one delivery. It does not add that address to the sample sequence, a newsletter, or sales emails.
Every email identifies the sender, carries our mailing address, and has a one-click unsubscribe that keeps working for at least 60 days. We keep a record of when and how you consented, because the law requires us to be able to show it.
Buying the book does not sign you up for marketing. Those are separate consents.
Netlify form submissions are retained until they are transferred for the requested delivery or deleted. We retain enough information to honour an unsubscribe or withdrawal request. This website does not create customer order records.
You can ask what we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or withdraw consent at any time. Email duncan@youcantreadher.com. We will respond by email.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
